The GLE inspires with more than just one exterior highlight: the optimised front design with radiator grille emphasises its dynamic SUV character. Front design
A grand appearance: the front section of the GLE proudly presents its strong look. The radiator grille of the AMG Line[1] with Mercedes-Benz pattern in chrome characterises the striking and SUV-typical design of the GLE. The precisely shaped air outlets lend it even greater presence.
Light-alloy wheels up to 55.9 cm (22-inch) in size
Brings you comfortably to your destination: a wide range of light-alloy wheels from 50.8 cm (20 inches) to 55.9 cm (22 inches)[1] rounds off the sporty, elegant design of the GLE.
Panoramic sliding sunroof
A real open-air feeling: if desired, the electrically adjustable panoramic sliding sunroof[1] provides fresh air when open. The opening height can be automatically adjusted to the current driving speed. Even when closed, it provides a pleasantly bright ambience in the interior.
Surround lighting with Mercedes-Benz pattern
Get in and stand out: getting in and out of the GLE is a highlight every time. The surround lighting[1] uses sophisticated LCD technology to project an animated Mercedes-Benz pattern onto the ground when the doors are open.

Multifunction steering wheel
With the multifunction steering wheel in leather, you can control a wide range of vehicle functions such as navigation, telephony or entertainment without having to take your hands off the steering wheel. The operating concept and the capacitive touch control panels are not only convincing in terms of functionality, but also provide a visual highlight.
Centre console with fingerprint scanner
Always in control: the high centre console with its two grab handles represents the playful element of the offroad experience. In addition to perfect ergonomics, flowing leather surfaces convey a luxurious impression. Multimedia functions can be controlled intuitively via the integrated touchpad and with the fingerprint scanner you unlock access to your personal data.[1][2]
Upholstery colours
The interior of the GLE shines in the two-tone colour combinations catalana beige / black and bahia brown / black[1]. The high-quality upholstery enables all passengers to enjoy exclusive comfort on every journey.
Trim elements

3rd seat row for 2 persons
As flexible as your plans: in your GLE, an additional row of seats[1] can be conveniently folded out at any time to provide space for two additional passengers. This means that you can switch between extra luggage capacity or seating space – according to your needs. You can fold and unfold the seats independently, and thanks to the EASY ENTRY system, your passengers can also access them conveniently. At the touch of a button, the second seat row can be moved forwards fully electrically.
Centre armrest and seat heating
Lean back and relax: passengers in the rear can travel even more comfortably in the GLE thanks to the extended centre armrest and centre console, while the seat heating on the outer rear seats[1] quickly brings the seat cushions and backrests to pleasant temperatures. You can choose between three heating levels.
Electrically adjustable rear seats
The GLE gives you the space you need. The second seat row is electrically adjustable[1] on request and offers you the option of flexibly expanding the vehicle's load compartment. The position of the rear seats can be changed simply by pressing a button. Numerous adjustment functions ensure a high degree of individual seating comfort.
Luxury rear head restraints

Burmester® high-end 3D surround sound system
With 29 speakers and a system output of 1,610 watts, you can enjoy a unique sound experience in the new GLS. The sophisticated noise compensation (VNC) adapts music and tones dynamically to your driving situation, and the setup assist with an innovative algorithm determines your music preferences together with you, adjusting the Burmester® sound system to your wishes.[1]
MBUX Voice Assistant
Experience and enjoy voice control at a fascinating level – fixed commands are a thing of the past. Thanks to its understanding of natural speech, the MBUX voice assistant [3]obeys practically every command. It recognises and understands almost any request related to infotainment and vehicle operation. The system can also process indirect speech – for example, climate control will respond to a mere "I feel cold" and gradually increase the temperature setting. [2]
Digital Extra: Offroad Track
Offroad Track[1] shows you exceptional off-road routes to follow near you. You can also create your own routes and share them with other users directly from the vehicle. While driving, you can record films and capture your experiences with both the Mercedes-Benz Stories app and the dashcam.[2]
Digital Extras
Right from the start, your Mercedes-Benz has more to offer than you might realise. Depending on your vehicle model, the special equipment you have chosen, the year of manufacture and the country, lots of digital extras for topics such as remote, navigation, charging, GUARD 360° vehicle protection and entertainment are included for a term of 36 months from the date of purchase of the new vehicle [4]. Digital Extra: MBUX Augmented Reality Navigation
To enable you to find your way in complex traffic situations, MBUX augmented reality for navigation [1][3] connects the virtual world with the real one. The technology merges graphic navigation instructions and traffic information into live images. You can reach your destination quickly, safely and without stress.[2]
MBUX of the latest generation
With the latest MBUX telematics generation, the infotainment system of the GLS has taken a major leap towards the future in terms of both hardware and software. Along with greater computational power and improved voice recognition, the layout and appearance of the applications have also been adapted even better to your needs.
Smart Home integration
"Hey Mercedes, turn off the light at home!" Connect your smart home system to your GLS and control your compatible smart home products such as temperature, lighting, roller blinds or electrical appliances while on the move. With the MBUX voice assistant[6]this is done very conveniently by voice control.[2]
Active Lane Keeping Assist
Active Lane Keeping Assist is an attentive observer: if you unintentionally leave your lane or get dangerously close to other road users, the system can bring you back into your lane by means of a steering intervention. If you still leave the lane, however, an additional warning will follow in the form of a steering wheel vibration.[5]
Active Brake Assist
Active Brake Assist can help you to avoid rear-ending moving or stationary vehicles ahead, as well as prevent accidents with moving pedestrians or cyclists. Along with distance and collision warnings, the system primarily offers situation-appropriate braking assistance, including performing an emergency stop if necessary.[5]
Digital Extra: Traffic Sign Assist
Traffic Sign Assist can recognise speed limits, overtaking bans and their cancellation. It also displays no-entry restrictions and warns you against incorrectly entering roads against the prescribed direction of traffic. With intelligently linked camera and map data, the system keeps you oriented.[2][5]
Blind Spot Assist
Blind Spot Assist takes a very close look for you – particularly when you activate the direction indicators. The system is able to give you a visual and audible warning of potential side collisions with other road users in the blind spot. After your trip, the system remains active for 3 minutes after you have switched off the ignition and warns you if you’re about to open the door when road users have been detected in the danger zone.[5]
Driving Assistance Package
A high level of comfort and safety on the road to autonomous driving. One highlight: DISTRONIC Active Distance Assist, which, together with Active Steering Assist, can noticeably reduce the strain on you in flowing and slow-moving lane traffic.[3][5]
KEYLESS-GO Comfort Package
Start and lock your vehicle conveniently by simply carrying your key with you. With the HANDS-FREE ACCESS function, you can also open and close the tailgate fully automatically and without touching it.[1][2]
THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control
4 climate zones enable an individual feel-good climate on board. The driver and front passenger are able to set the temperature and air distribution to suit their personal needs. The air conditioning adjustments can be stored and retrieved at the touch of a button.
Rear Seat Comfort Package Plus
With the Rear Comfort Plus Package[1], your rear passengers travel in extra comfort - thanks to extras such as the extended centre armrest and centre console. You can easily access various stowage compartments, connections and the removable MBUX rear seat tablet.
Acoustic Comfort package
The sound insulation of the Acoustic Comfort Package[1] significantly reduces disruptive exterior noise. Together with additional insulation measures, the laminated glass with acoustic film effectively reduces ambient noise. So you can enjoy a quiet travel ambience even at high speeds.
ENERGIZING Plus Package
Seat climate control, the Warmth Comfort Package and multicontour seats with massage function: this package combines the ENERGIZING comfort control with attractive premium features. Your vehicle can keep you vitalised and pampered in order to ensure prolonged alertness at the wheel and a thoroughly enjoyable ride.[1][2]
Power closing
The servo closing function pulls your doors gently and almost silently into the lock. You only need to close the doors as far as it starts to engage – and your vehicle will take over the rest for you.
ENERGIZING AIR CONTROL
ENERGIZING AIR CONTROL[1] monitors the air quality for you with the help of air quality and fine particle sensors. A two-stage filter concept reduces fine particle and the majority of other inhalable pollutants. Depending on the value measured, your vehicle switches intelligently between fresh air and air-recirculation mode.
PRE-SAFE® system
The PRE-SAFE® system makes use of the time prior to an impending impact on your behalf. A host of measures are able to reduce the stress and strain to which you are exposed. The innovative PRE-SAFE® Sound generates a noise from the speakers that is able to trigger a natural protective reflex. This can protect the inner ear by damping accident noise.
GUARD 360° vehicle protection Plus with Digital Extras
GUARD 360° Vehicle Protection Plus[3] offers all-round monitoring of the vehicle's surroundings. Thanks to the anti-theft alarm system, as well as emergency key deactivation, you are able to react quickly. You also receive a theft notification with collision detection via app. The Stolen Vehicle Help function increases your chance of recovering your property.[1][6]
AIRMATIC
In the AIRMATIC Package, an adaptive damping system meets modern air suspension. The result: an intelligent comfort suspension which is able to adjust automatically to the driving conditions, speed and load. As a result you benefit from corrective driving stability with first-class comfort both on good and poor roads.
DYNAMIC SELECT
DYNAMIC SELECT changes the handling characteristics at the touch of a button. You can use different driving modes which change the characteristics of the engine, transmission, suspension and steering, for example. Whether you want to drive dynamically in Sport mode, highly relaxed in Comfort mode or particularly economically in ECO mode – you determine precisely what is important to you.
Off-Road Engineering Package
With this package you can take to the road with full confidence – even when the road conditions are not ideal. A fully variable all-wheel drive system works together with an infinitely variable air suspension system. As a result, you will experience a perfect balance between agility, stability and maximum traction.[1]
E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL
With the fully active E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL suspension[3], you drive with confidence in every situation. With the first-class pitch, roll and shock compensating effects, you will experience comfort, precision and dynamics - combined with unique off-road characteristics.[1][2]
4MATIC all-wheel drive
With its 4MATIC all-wheel drive and the special off-road drive program, the GLS is able to master both light and heavy terrain. Additional help is provided by the Torque on Demand (Single Speed) longitudinal transfer case, which can increase traction on grass, gravel and light terrain.
48 V on-board electrical system
More performance, more flexibility, more efficiency: with the 48-volt system, an additional on-board electrical system has been established in the GLS. The 48-volt battery increases the overall battery capacity. This means more electrical energy for innovative functions when stationary.
MERCEDES-AMG
The design radiates an irrepressible urge to move, even at first glance. The sporty appearance is not only ensured by the front apron with AMG-specific radiator grille and the wheels measuring up to 55.9 cm (22 inches). The optional logo projector, which projects the AMG logo onto the floor when the front doors are opened, is also specific to AMG.
