Start with the symptom and safety
A new warning, leak, noise or failed feature is a reason to document what happened, not a reason to assume the vehicle is covered or excluded. Note the date, mileage, driving conditions and exact dashboard message. A photo or short video can help us understand an intermittent fault. If the vehicle indicates that you should stop, or you cannot operate it safely, stop in a suitable place and follow the vehicle's instructions; contact us for the appropriate next step rather than continuing to drive to a workshop. Do not erase fault messages or dismantle components simply to prepare a claim. If there has been an accident or external damage, tell us at the outset because its cause may matter to the assessment. A safety concern should be dealt with promptly even while the coverage question remains open.
Confirm which warranty applies
“Mercedes-Benz warranty” can refer to different documents: the new-vehicle warranty, a separate high-voltage battery certificate, a parts warranty, an extended product or a seller's used-car promise. They need not have the same start date, duration, covered components or exclusions. Before relying on a general online figure, find the paperwork delivered with your car and identify the selling market, first registration or delivery details and the product named in the document. Mercedes-Benz publishes different warranty terms in different markets; a UK or Australian term is not an Armenian term. For an imported car, an earlier owner or a separately purchased product, we should check the specific VIN and documents before saying what remains in force. Even when a period has not expired, the reason for a failure still matters. Warranty is a question about a defined defect and its applicable conditions, not a blanket promise that every workshop visit is free.
Contact us with the VIN and documents
Contact Avangard Motors service and describe the symptom in plain words. Have the VIN, current mileage, contact details and any warning text ready. Bring the vehicle's warranty or delivery paperwork, service records and invoices for relevant previous repairs if available; if you do not have every document, tell us what is missing. Share when the fault first appeared, whether it is constant or intermittent, and whether a repair, accessory installation, collision or other event preceded it. These details help us identify the applicable record and plan an inspection; they do not by themselves decide coverage. If you are travelling or the car was supplied in another market, mention that before booking so that we can clarify the relevant process. Ask whether the car should be driven, brought on a transporter or handled another way in its present condition.
Arrange diagnosis before authorising repairs
A booking is the beginning of an assessment, not approval of a warranty repair. At the workshop, describe the concern and agree what will be inspected. A technician may need to reproduce the symptom, inspect the affected area, read diagnostic information and compare findings with the relevant vehicle and service documentation. Mercedes-Benz provides workshops with repair and maintenance information that can be filtered by VIN, while its Digital Service Booklet records maintenance work for applicable vehicles. A fault code, a photo or an owner's description is useful evidence, but none alone proves its cause. Some intermittent faults require additional observations. Ask us to explain the proposed diagnostic steps and whether any diagnostic charge could apply if the issue is outside the applicable warranty. Keep a copy of the initial job description so that the original complaint is clear.
Review the coverage decision
After diagnosis, the key questions are what failed, why it failed and which written terms govern that vehicle or product. A manufacturing defect may fall within a relevant warranty, subject to its conditions. Wear, routine maintenance, external damage, misuse or an unrelated modification may be treated differently under the applicable document; the details and causal connection need examination, not assumptions. Mercedes-Benz's own market-specific warranty pages distinguish manufacturing faults from exclusions and direct owners to their warranty statements. We will explain the finding, the proposed remedy and whether it is being submitted for warranty authorisation. Where authorisation is required, the proposed work should be agreed through that process before it is presented as approved. Ask which part of the concern is covered if the diagnosis reveals more than one issue. A covered repair does not automatically cover unrelated maintenance requested during the same visit.
Approve any work outside warranty
If the inspection finds work outside warranty, request a clear explanation and a quote before giving permission to proceed. The estimate should distinguish diagnosis, parts and labour, and should separate a warranty item from an optional or customer-paid item. You can ask which work is needed to address the reported fault and which work is recommended for another reason. If new findings change the scope, agree the revised work and cost before it is carried out. Do not assume that paying for an unrelated item cancels a valid warranty claim, or that an unapproved repair elsewhere will automatically be reimbursed; the applicable terms and the cause of the fault govern those questions. For an urgent issue, discuss the safest practical plan with our service team while the commercial decision is being recorded.
Collect the outcome and keep the record
When the car is ready, ask for the job card or service report stating the reported symptom, findings, work completed, replaced parts if applicable and the coverage decision. Check any invoice or zero-charge warranty entry against the work you agreed to. If the claim was declined, request the reason and the clause or condition relied upon, along with a record of any paid work you approved. Keep the report with your warranty and maintenance history, especially if the symptom returns or you later transfer the vehicle. Mercedes-Benz's Digital Service Booklet can generate a Digital Service Report for maintenance on applicable vehicles; ask how your particular visit was recorded. If the same concern persists, tell us promptly and refer to the original job number and symptom. A written trail makes the next conversation much clearer than trying to reconstruct it from memory.
Questions owners often ask
Does every repair during the warranty period qualify? No. The period is only one condition; the covered item, cause of failure and exclusions must also be checked. Can an owner decide coverage from a dashboard warning? No. The warning describes a condition, while diagnosis investigates its cause. Does a service history matter? It can: the applicable maintenance instructions and evidence of completed work may be relevant to an assessment, but a missing paper stamp is not a substitute for examining the actual records and terms. Can an imported car use the same process? Start by sharing the VIN and its original market documents; eligibility must be checked for that car. For a coverage question in Armenia, book a service conversation with Avangard Motors. We can review the information you have, arrange the appropriate inspection and explain the decision before you approve any customer-paid work.
